Water-Wastewater Corrosion Control

Air is the most serious threat to the reliability of your electronics. The air in your facility contains many types of pollutants that corrode fine electronics.

Corrosion is the deterioration of metal due to the presence of acid gases. These gases attack edge connectors, pin connectors, IC plug-in sockets and other metal components. Corrosion leads to blocked currents, brittle connection points and overheated electrical systems. The end result: decreased reliability.

ISA Standard 71.04-1985, the accepted guideline for warranties of electronic equipment, classifies the level of airborne contamination that is safe for electronics. Purafil ESD designs its dry-scrubbing systems according to this standard. Our systems are housed in motor control centers, rack rooms and central control rooms to protect equipment against corrosive failures.

Purafil is an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Single-Source Manufacturer of Media, Modules, Equipment and Instrumentation. Ask for only genuine Purafil factory products! Do not be confused by companies that strictly buy and resell other products that sacrifice quality and performance. Water Wastewater Corrosion Control Media

Complementary Media Life Analysis: Purafil’s laboratory analyzes samples of media from your air scrubber to determine the remaining life. A date for replacement can then be scheduled to ensure the protected space is not exposed to gas breakthrough or media is replaced prematurely.

Purafil ESD’s patented, media formulations are the core of our systems. We engineer and manufacture our media from raw ingredients to ensure their superior removal capacity against hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans, aldehydes, organics, and many other odorous gases. Our granular media are UL Classified, non-toxic, non-hazardous, and landfill disposable. Purafil ESD combines the following engineered media in your equipment for corrosion control:

Purafil® SP Blend Media - 50:50 volume blend of Purafil SP and Purakol. Demonstrates a higher working capacity for broad-spectrum oxidation of contaminants in actual field conditions where multiple gas challenges are present.

PuraCarb® Media – Designed for neutralization of chlorine (Cl2), hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and sulfur dioxide(SO2), this media is manufactured specifically for the corrosive environments and consists of generally spherical, porous pellets.

PuraCarb® AM Media – Targets ammonia (NH3) and amines.

Purafil® ESD Chlorosorb® Ultra Media – Removes chlorine gas (Cl2) in below freezing temperatures.

Purafil® ESD CSO™ Media - Emergency removal of chlorine (Cl2) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) gases.

Purafil® Select Media - Removes sulfur oxides and other odorous pollutants from makeup air.  Automobiles and other sources of fossil fuel combustion produce these pollutants. In return air applications, Purafil Select removes emissions from office furnishings and human bioeffluents.

CP Blend Media - 50:50 volume blend of Chemisorbant and Purakol. Chemisorbant media is impregnated with potassium permanganate to provide optimum adsorption, absorption and oxidation of a wide variety of gaseous contaminants. The Purakol® Media shall be an activated carbon for the control of hydrocarbons with a high surface area available for adsorption.

GridBLOK™ - Available in FIVE media formulations; IAQ (newly designed composition has TWICE the removal capacity for formaldehyde than any other chemically impregnated media), Purakol (broad spectrum removal capacity), Puracarb (removal of acid gases such as hydrogen sulfide and sulfer dioxide), Puracarb AM (removal of ammonia and amines), and Chlorosorb (removal of chlorine gases).

    Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Tools

Monitoring air quality is an essential part of your corrosion control program. Purafil ESD's OnGuard® 3000 Monitor protects your electronics by measuring in real time the level of corrosion in your facility and transmitting the readings to your SCADA system. With the OnGuard, you can log cumulative or incremental data to detect and measure isolated corrosion-causing events and potential effects on equipment reliability.

The Purafil ESD OnGuard Monitor uses highly sensitive sensors to provide accurate and reliable corrosion monitoring within ± 0.5-1% of full span. All OnGuard measurements can be related to the Instrument Society of America Standard 71.04-1985, which defines an environment as either G1, G2, G3, or GX based on the corrosion severity level and potential effects on equipment reliability.

Ideal for control rooms, motor control centers, rack rooms, and other areas where corrosion is a concern, the OnGuard allows for action to be taken before problems develop. In turn, this prevention increases the reliability of electronic and electrical instrumentation and reduces the cost of maintenance repairs.
